                         I sincerely pray all is well or you should know assuredly it will be soon

In yet another very brief edification I'd like to present some spiritual and logical understanding pertaining to another one of the upcoming fall moadym aka "appointed times", -> "yum Kippur" aka "day of atonement" but actually it should be translated as " day of covering".

We first need to revisit our instruction / torah and embrace what it states,

In Leviticus chapter 16 and chapter 23 most of us have read:

16:29 And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you: 16:30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before YHWH. 16:31 It shall be a Sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

23:26 And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying,
23:27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be a set-apart convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH.
23:28 And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before YHWH your Elohim.
23:29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
23:30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
23:31 Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
23:32 It shall be unto you a Sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath

This observance also isn't rocket science or hard to understand but we should get a deeper understanding by examining a couple things:

1) Past to Present Priestly sacrifices:

Earlier in the 16th chapter of Levitcus (16:8) it showed us that a priest would have to attain 2 goats,

16:8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for YHWH, and the other lot for the scapegoat

These two goats were chosen by lot: one to be "for YHWH", which was offered as a blood sacrifice, and the other to be the scapegoat to be sent away into the wilderness (to remove the sins far away).
The blood of the slain goat was taken into the Holy of Holies behind the sacred veil and sprinkled on the mercy seat, the lid of the ark of the covenant.
These are given as a shadow and representation of the later manifestation of Yahushua! ... but it would take two living creatures to TRY to temporarily do what he did by himself.

THE 2 REPRESENTED: YES THOUGH HE DIED AS A SACRIFICE, HE YET STILL LIVED ...AND THEN TAKEN AWAY ( Acts 1:9-11 )

So now YAHUSHUA is our High Priest as denoted in Leviticus chapter 16:30, he offers up the blood in these days !!!

There is nothing sensible WE could say to YHWH better than Yahushua our advocate could say to atone for our behavior that's why we have to "afflict or humble" our souls on that day! translation: CLOSE YOUR MOUFF!!!

2) The misunderstood graphic reality of this observance:

We already had the observance of the trumpets announcing the return and judgement from on High, >>> NOW we have to prepare for the consequences of the judgement of YHWH'S wrath >>> BEFORE the ingathering of his people represented by "Feast of Tabernacles".

Yes this appointed time is also preparatory, >>> YHWH IS TRYING TO GET US OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONES!
remember during Passover they stayed inside away from the death and destruction?, well this time we will be out and right in the midst and IT WON'T BE PRETTY !

....~ affliction purpose?

The main reasons the Most High want's us to afflict our souls is because we need to grow up learn discipline at the highest level!
Mainly we need to humble and purge ourselves while his perfect sacrifice atones for us AND we also must be ready to stomach the graphic destruction of the wicked enemies and also let's not forget those law transgressors such as: Family, Friends, co-workers, etc all around us.
So we must understand that Blood up to the Horses bridle won't be funny!

                                          (This is why he has to come and wipe away our tears)

Let's NOT ignore Revelation 6:15-17:

6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

IT WILL BE NO DESIRE TO FOCUS ON CARNAL PLEASURES !
such as: eating, drinking, smoking, druging, gaming, romancing, exercising, entertaining, recreating, etc... ( so get ready! )

Some of the unlearned - proclaim the messiah already atoned so there is no need to fast ( mainly because they don't want to! ) but remember this >>>

Exodus 16:1-3, And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
16:2 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
16:3 And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to Elohim we had died by the hand of YHWH in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

....~ same ole same ole, the ungrateful are always whining about something !!!

                                                             ~ A FAST WARNING ~
Our plan of salvation "Yaushua" gave his followers a warning about fasting that WE often ignore these days, He decreed what was recorded in Matthew 6:16-18,
"Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6:17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 6:18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly".

....~ translation: DO NOT BOAST YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS APPOINTED TIME FAST !!!

Read Acts 27:9, >>> Paul and ALL the believers continued in keeping this appointed time! and also in Philippians he stated some real talk:
Philipians 3:17-19, Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the stake of the Messiah)
3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose elohim is their BELLY, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.
